Welcome to Chacma Bush Camp
Chacma Bush Camp offers the perfect big five safari experience in 8000 hectares of undulating landscapes dotted with rocky outcrops. Located in the uncrowded Maseke Game Reserve, a management area of the Balule Private Nature Reserve, this family-friendly Kruger safari camp is the ideal hideaway for safari-goers looking for a more intimate Kruger safari. The camp sleeps a total of 10 people in three chalets and thus offers an authentic and personalised safari experience.
The Olifants River coursing through the region, together with the abundant caves and outcrops, provides a diverse landscape for game drives. Guests will explore this unique section of the Kruger on expertly guided game drives, which take place twice daily.
The camp’s perimeter is hugged by Mopane woodlands—a major drawcard for a wealth of wildlife. Bushbuck, kudu, and plains game are commonly spotted in these woodlands, and can be viewed from the comfort of the deck area surrounding the sparkling swimming pool. Chacma’s main highlight is its small waterhole in front of camp, which is frequented by elephants during the drier winter months.

Location
Chacma Bush Camp is located in the Maseke Balule Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger, and has 8000 hectares of traverse. The area is situated between Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa in Limpopo Province. Prominent mountainous ridges and boulder koppies characterise the terrain, making it an interesting region to explore on a drive.
Those that fly-in can fly into Hoedspruit (Eastgate Airport), Phalaborwa Airport, Nelspruit Airport or OR Tambo. The camp is easily accessible for self drive guests alternatively you are welcome to arrive with a transfer company.
Lodge & Rooms
The camp is built around a bustling waterhole, regularly visited by elephant herds, warthogs, and plains game. Whether you’re cooling off in the stone-decked swimming pool or relaxing on a sun lounger, the wildlife is never far away.
Each chalet is built from natural stone and boulders, blending into the landscape while offering a natural cooling effect during the heat of summer. Klipspringer Chalet, perfect for families, accommodates up to two adults and four children, or a maximum of four adults, and features an outdoor shower. Steenbok Chalet, ideal for couples, offers a private view over the waterhole. Grysbok Chalet includes two separate rooms, comfortably sleeping two adults and two children. All chalets are stylishly furnished for comfort, with quality linens and en-suite bathrooms.
Wildlife
During the dry season, the vegetation is sparse, and wildlife congregates around watering holes. During the rainy season, the vegetation is dense, and wildlife is more dispersed. Expect to see the big five over the course of a 3-night stay. In addition to the big five, which are regularly sighted, include giraffe, zebra, warthog, spotted hyena, baboon, hippo, impala, kudu, vervet monkey, waterbuck, wildebeest, bushbaby, mongoose, duiker, and steenbok. You might also see wild dog, cheetah, honey badger, porcupine, aardvark, civet, caracal, and serval. Birds that are regularly seen are vultures, owls, bee-eaters, rollers, eagles, bustards, hornbills, starlings, and shrikes.
